How to Fix Freezing Issues on Windows 11?

 


If you're experiencing freezing issues on Windows 11, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the problem. Here are some potential solutions:

Check for Windows updates: Make sure your Windows 11 installation is up to date. Microsoft often releases updates that include bug fixes and performance improvements, which can help resolve freezing issues.

 Update device drivers: Outdated or incompatible device drivers can cause freezing problems. Visit the manufacturer's website for your computer or individual components (such as graphics card, network adapter, etc.) and download the latest drivers. Install them and restart your computer.


Run Windows Troubleshooters: Windows 11 includes built-in troubleshooters that can automatically detect and fix common issues. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot, and run the appropriate troubleshooters for the problem you're experiencing. For example, you can try running the "Windows Update troubleshooter" or the "Hardware and Devices troubleshooter."


Check for overheating: Overheating can cause system instability and freezing. Ensure that your computer's fans are working properly and not obstructed. Clean any dust or debris from the vents and consider using a cooling pad if you're using a laptop.

Disable startup programs: Some third-party programs that launch at startup can conflict with Windows and cause freezing. Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc, go to the "Startup" tab, and disable any unnecessary programs. Restart your computer and see if the freezing issue persists.

Perform a clean boot: A clean boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, which can help identify if a specific program is causing the freezing. Follow these steps:

Press Windows Key + R, type "msconfig," and hit Enter.


In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab and check the "Hide all Microsoft services" box.


Click on "Disable all" to disable all non-Microsoft services.

Go to the Startup tab and click on "Open Task Manager."



In Task Manager, disable all startup items.

Close Task Manager and go back to the System Configuration window.

Click on "Apply" and then "OK."

Restart your computer and check if the freezing issue persists. If it doesn't, you can selectively enable services and startup items to identify the problematic one.

Scan for malware: Malware infections can cause system instability. Run a full scan with a reputable antivirus or anti-malware program to check for any potential threats.

Perform a system restore: If the freezing issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a previous point in time when it was working correctly. Search for "Create a restore point" in the Start menu, click on the "System Properties" option, and then click on "System Restore." Follow the instructions to restore your system.



Reset or reinstall Windows: If all else fails, you can try resetting or reinstalling Windows 11. This will remove all your personal files and installed applications, so make sure you have backups.

Go to Settings > System > Recovery, and choose the "Reset PC" or "Reinstall Windows" option.


Try SFC Scan

The System File Checker (SFC)Scan can also help resolve your PC’s freezing issues. It has helped a lot of users you should also try it.

 Click on “Start Menu” and search for “Command Prompt.” Right click and open as administrator

 You must type the following command: C:\sfc /scannow


If the freezing issue persists after trying these steps, it may be worth contacting Microsoft support or seeking assistance from a professional technician to diagnose and fix the problem.
